A Fun-GK Phenomenon

Hard @ Work, Weh!

Last Friday a. m., 03.23.12, @ Sitio Monicayo, Sacobia Sub-Zone, Clark Philippines, patented my first GK experience.  Which I would claim as a destined Friday for me, as I thought I would never get the chance to do the activity, seeing that I was not able to go with the first batch of volunteers.

As we waited for the coaster to arrive by our building to bring us to the Sitio, we were entertained by one of the project officers dressed as one Coldplay band member look-alike who seemed to look like more of a cold-hearted mason, ha-ha.;D But kidding aside, our trail to the site was a look-forward-to event for me as it is a ‘first-time.” As like any other preludes, I really have no idea how things go, as I totally place my full trust and confidence on the knowledge and skill of the person and/or company am with.  On this particular occurrence, I placed complete credence on Marcial. The assigned persona to represent the state-run corporation, and oversee the initial twenty-two housing projects, mostly for Aeta familes, as told is an offshoot of the agreement between our corp. and Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc. designed for the improvement of the communities within the ClarkSEZ area.

As we alighted the bus, we readied ourselves by putting on our gloves. We were escorted by some barangay and GK representatives to where work awaited our arrival. We girls were handed out our brushes and cans  each to start painting on the barandillas or pasamanos, while the boys headed straight to the other housing units to work on the cement and blocks. Paint did make splatters on our shoulders, palms & forefingers (yep! Even with the gloves), pants, shins and high knees.;D Initially still, our group worked in silence as we each focused on the slabs of metal. Once we have gotten used to the dispersion of coat, we started gooning with the rest of the guys present as Shutterbug Yasmin started bullying us and commanding us girls to work harder. Our allowed operational hours was over in two hours! Kind of bitin! Since there are more to smear and glaze.

Albeit Mister Golden Sun’s intense and passionate flames>>  Mainet! (HOT! HOT! HOT@#%?! Cruel Mister.;p),… Albeit I got me self face burn as I forgot to put on SPF,… Albeit paint smothered my beloved H & M pants,… My first with GK is categorically a FUN-GK PHENOMENON.
