Miss Amy Tan

“Go into the deep. Go out of your comfort zone. Respond to the call in the present moment.” The very words, may not be the exact lexis, but similar.  These were the statements that were wedged in my mind during the solemn Eucharistic concelebration in honor of Saint Josemaria Escriva yesterday at the Holy Rosary Parish Church in Angeles City. Saint Josemaria Escriva is the Founder of Opus Dei. The Work, of which I became a Cooperator.  A fake cooperator at that, as I consider myself to be. ‘Coz up to now, I am still a major pasaway, in its superlative denotation. After the mass, I was fortunate enough to be invited to join the number of numeraries present at a dinner hosted by Auntie Do at Villa Te. Numeraries are ladies who have dedicated their lives to the Work. They’re not nuns, but all are singletons in status. We fancied being in joyful conversation with one of them, Miss Amy Tan, not the infamous Joy Luck Club author, as her Amy is pronounced with the short “A” sound.  She is this gleaming numerary full of stories to tell, and according to chronicles I have heard about her, she does things spontaneously and courageously. As she is not afraid of the baha (knee-deep floodwater, sometimes going as high as your shoulder), and weighty monsoon rains, just to help out her colleagues in the market.;)  Oh well by the way, I was told not to talk about her in this blog, ha ha. To keep my part of the bargain in exchange for her exclusive disclosure of her life story, my mention of her ends here. Si Ms. Carlota na lang daw, ha ha. Well, I am openly asking about their progress stories, as how they got to be where they are now, and who influenced them along the way which made it possible for them to be in the Work unfailingly.  Yes, I am open to whatever it is that would come out of the “discernment” chat.  I am not closing my doors to any probabilities. I keep still.
