Pakarera sa Nuvali 2011

There are false hopes. There are false eyelashes. There are false teeth. As there’s such false advertising. That’s what happened during the Nuvali Trail Run. Instead of the 25k, we were advised to the extra 3.5km. Instead of the 50k, there’s the extra 7km more. Ano ba yan?! An ultra marathoner at the 22.5km station noted that supposedly daw, tapos na sya. Pero, he had to finish 7km pa rin. By the way, he’s no. 4. I have several times ran 25km without training for it, but this is the first time, I really got pissed. Irate in such a way that, as a runner, when you’re told to get to the finish line, you have to get there. When you start something, you have to wrap it up. This time, I didn’t get to the end line. One, I registered for 25km, not more than that. And I am in pain. Can’t help it. That’s what one gets for not training for a run. Well, I just do. For the love of it. And it’s a trail run, in Laguna. One of my firsts.

Mr. Leo Oracion saw me down to my butt sitting on the grass under the shade of a tree as I am about to faint. Effect of heat stroke. Sabi nya, “lapit na.” And to Mr. Oracion, who happens to have a license of having climbed Mt. Everest, gaano kalapit ang malapit kaya?@? Sige na nga. His support crew was so nice to advise and abide by me for a moment before joining his charge. That’s what I adore about running with professionals. They know the very essence of being. Well, I did get to the 22.5km stop. That instead of drinking, I took the plastic cups to rinse. I stayed there for about forty-five minutes mumbling about having my lawyer around, “hintayin nyo lawyer ko, he’s just running the fifty-km,ha-ha,” then went limping my way to join red riding hood to rally the fox. By the 25km stop, I had to demand sweep. After all, I’m done and good. Bottom line though, I got my finisher’s medal. Is it asking too much?

Thanks to Boss Red, who fought for it for me, amiably, as I am all cross-eyed with madness, seriously. Appreciate the gesture, Coach. Yan ang leader.;)
