"Only honest-to-goodness conversations with and on the what and who matters. "

For a long time I have not been out of pasilyo streets. Only weekends ago have I had the chance to once again frolic the narrow short-cuts smacked into these orange-clad eggs called kwek-kwek in Baclaran. Donned in our exhibit work shirts and high-heeled flats, we summoned two giant floured eggs each into our esophagus and drowned it out in Pepsi. What enthralled me most is the vinaigrette prepared by the vendor. I gulped it down with much savor as it pleases my craving. It had cucumber, garlic, pepper and shallots pickled-relished to the extreme. That is why when the mystique old maid in our midst blurted out, gusto ko yung mga itlog ni Chris,” we were frantic for parental oversight, as the way it was declared made us (us refers to Robin, I, and Chris himself) go red in the face. The virgin maiden hits again with her gallant words of unblemished innocence. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our Baclaran moment. After crunching on our eggs heartily, we threaded the long pasilyo to the church and said our short prayers. This is just my second time to visit the cathedral grounds, and it felt am back in the kingdom of our very own apo in Brgy. Lourdes. As we saunter further along, little wanderers kept on pursuing us for cents. We were pointing at Robin at our back, who was lagging behind walking like a movie-star. He he. But in totality, the stroll was pure enjoyment. It, being with the people who indubitably makes you guffaw uncontrollably. It, making one see how life is so ordinary and still be a source of amusement. It, being an occasion for  pigging out on hawker bites (thankful my Tita Cora is not around if not she will yak about it being unhygienic,hee-hee). It, just being a source of both relaxation and learning (it being a learning experience for me as I make an observation of how the sidewalk vendors make their living). I so do look forward to future undertakings like this. Wherein the craze for kwek kweks becomes one’s lifelong pleasure. Wherein life can just be plain simple for a day, and still creates satisfaction. Wherein sweet corn cobs and santols in bloom are enough satiation to a palate’s food trips. This in turn makes me croon my lungs out in the tune of “Kahit isang saglit lang.” If only for one more day.
